The Water Leak

>>  Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Last week, when my husband went to the basement, into the laundry room to get a broom, he noticed the dripping water from the floor. We wondered where it came from; we thought it was just a rain coming down the roof to the vent or something because it has been raining the whole day that day. Yet, it was not a usual occurrence when it rains the whole day which there’s a leak of water coming in. It totally doesn’t make any sense, so we thought it might came from the bathroom. No. We decided to turn off the main water line but this doesn’t work out either. Until it’s time for us to go to bed and hubby just put bunch of towels all over the vent.

On the next day, I went to check the leak and the water is basically covering the whole floor. I also noticed that the ceiling of the laundry room were wet. I’m so worried that it might get the mold in and ruin everything. So, my father in law called a plumber.

Then, we finally figured out where it came from until the plumber came over to check it out. It came from the hose water line of the ice maker. Eventually, the ice maker is off right now. If we only knew about it, then hubby would just turn the water line off, yet we didn’t know and we didn’t know which one to turn off, so it was pretty messy over there. Good thing, there’s a drain which water can flow all the way into it.

Good thing, the heater vent was not damaged nor it was affected by it. I think the towels makes it from being too wet and eventually keeps it dry. We don't know what was the reason of the damage and how the water hose got punctured right behind the refrigerator. The hose was basically right behind the wall either which really surprised me of how it happened.

When the water line was off, the leak stopped. It was a relief.  Yet, we don't have an ice for now due to broken ice maker.  However, thanks, to our landlord and my father in law for a quick response to this emergency.

Good thing you guys got the leak fixed right away or your place will be flooded. I hope you'll be able to fix the broken ice maker too. I think these kind of repairs are shouldered by the landlords, right?

Good to know it is now fixed. One thing I really dreaded is something about plumbing thing :-) It can really be messy when there is flooding in the house.
