Avoiding Procrastination

My classes start two weeks ago and after two weeks, it is going to be my first examination. I was kind a excited about it but nervous since I don't know what the teacher's exam would be like until I took the first examination. Now, we’ve been assigned to read our books a couple of days ago and yet I was procrastinating a lot. I rather went online and do blogging or check unimportant things. I was thinking of avoiding procrastination but I can’t control. I should do something about it. Well, I also have a requirement to do before the exam starts and it is due on our examination day. I should do something about it.

Guest Post: Simple Woman's Daybook

This week on Garden of Moments daybook:

FOR TODAY... from Pinay in States

Outside my window... a cloudy day with freezing wind...

I am thinking... about the assignment I had for this week to read the first chapter of my book in Psychology..

I am thankful for...another day to live by...

I am wearing... blue henley and cami underneath it, jeans and socks.

I am remembering... my anatomy and physiology for a while when I was in my Nutrition class.

I am going...to buy my books tonight for my Psychology at the school campus but I have found better deals online.

I am currently reading... Mastering the world of Psychology

I am hoping... that I could survive my classes this semester

On my mind... I was thinking what I just read a while ago

Noticing that... I've been eating my dinner lately...

Pondering these words... A right delayed is a right denied.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Around the house... the vacuum, blanket, toys, books, and dirty clothing

One of my favorite things~ blogging and watching movies...

From my picture journal...

First day of School!

Last Thursday, I went to my second school here in USA. Since I started schooling here, I was thought I am just going to one school and then get done but I was wrong. I was being transferred to another community college again because of my husband’s work. So, now I have to transfer as well as my course credits to continue a degree I was hoping for to finish. It was fun though sometimes it is hard because then I have to meet new people again.

At the school, I was kind a surprise how different it was. I guess I was looking for how it is look like compare to my old school. It was a little bit older than I used to. More students, I guess.

Well, it was the first day of school for me again. It seem like I had to start over again, like I went to the school early because I had to find my room and to avoid being late especially on the first day of class. Good thing I wasn’t late at all and I still have time to find my room.

This coming Monday, I have to go to my other class again, meet new people too. Also, I was looking forward to buy my books as well. Its kind a fun for me but sometimes challenging at the same time because then, I have to study again and soon I will have my first examination by the first week of February.

I wish I could able to survive this semester as I had done from my previous semester but this is a different school and I was looking forward for more excitement soon..

Migraine Attack

I still remember when I was in elementary; I suffered myself with a migraine. It was totally a wreck to me because I missed couple of my examinations, I missed being in class, and even spent time with my classmates and friends to play outside because of my migraine attack. I had it when I was about 11 years old. It was a night mare to me; I suffered a pain, a headache that I always thought a pain of having a cancer. The pain is excruciating which made me to throw up what I had been eaten, then, I could see blurry vision on both sides of my eyes that really made me sick. It was so torturing because it will attack right at the moment when I’m in class or playing outside with my friends. Then, after a year my mom met a friend at our church whom introduces us into a migraine treatment pills, it’s a honey bee pollen, a pill that was naturally made with honey. It was really a great relief to me. I was so glad that my migraine is over now.

Florida or Philippines? What do you think?

My father in law went to Florida during winter season and I envied him for that because he can able to go up there where it was warm and nice weather. I have been missing to be in a warm environment and with that I missed my home country so much, the Philippines. It’s been four years now since I came here in US, since then, I never had a chance to visit home yet. Some people said that Florida is kind a close to the Philippines when it comes to the weather. Unfortunately, I have heard from my father in law that Florida was experiencing cold weather for a few days now and it’s been so cold and snowing on some areas too where some tropical plants are dying and some people are getting sick because of not being used to the cold. Well, that’s something and I never heard about Florida to snow and I can’t still think about that it will occur. I guess Philippines are the last option for me!

Small Talk Six: Lively Memories

This week on Small Talk Six topic is “6 of your most vivid childhood memories.”

I don’t have that much vivid memories of my childhood because it was kind a like almost 20 years ago but I will try to reminisce and remember most of them.

1. I remember when I was playing with my classmates and also my playmates at that time. We went to one my friend’s house and ending up playing at one of their tree like climbing up and down, swinging and jump. I remember when I missed the branch and I fell right on the floor, it really hurts me so badly especially my nose area. It was a mess up, good thing I never had any bruises or something.

2. I remember when I am on my final temperance with a bully classmate who always has time to annoy me each time. So, when I was out of control, I threw a pen on him and it hit his eyebrow, good thing I missed his eyes but I never felt any guiltiness or something. I am just fine that I finally had my last draw. Since then, he was kind a off with me.

3. I remember when I and my friends went to this abandon building nearby to our apartment home. It was fun since every time we talked there’s an echo inside the building. Suddenly, we heard noises and we started running off with our heart pounding. It was fun afterwards and we ended up laughing.

4. I remember now when I was about 5 to 6 years old, my sister, my brother, and I went home from school. After the bus dropped us off, I went to cross the street right away without knowing there’s a car coming. I almost got hit and my sister was so mad and scared, especially when the driver yelled at her to watch me next time. It was so sad since my sister got mad at me and I was crying when I came home.

5. I remember when I had fun playing with my brother. I think he was about 12 at that time and I was 6. He seems like he doesn’t want me to go with him since I’m a girl but I love to do so. I went play cards with him together with his boy-friends. Then, with flying kites, spider gaming, marble games, and basketball. I never forget these memories since it is so sweet that I had a chance to spent time with my older brother during our childhood times.

6. Lastly, I remember that every time my mom went shopping at the department store, I used to hide at one of the clothing racks since its cold and I love the smell of the department store. It was weird since sometimes I just sit down on the floor and wait for her to get done shopping. I hate shopping when I was little and now I understand why and I love my mom even more.

I think that's all I could think of right at this moment!

Mead Johnson, Maker of Enfamil, Loses Multi-Million Dollar False Advertising Case Against Store-Bran

This is a sponsored guest post written by a Press Release on behalf of PBM Products. Post powered by Sponzai.

GORDONSVILLE, VA., December  2 , 2009PBM Products, LLC, a leading infant formula company that supplies store-brand infant formulas to Walmart, Sam's Club, Target, Kroger, Walgreens, and other retailers, has received a favorable jury verdict and a $13.5 million damages award in its false advertising lawsuit against Mead Johnson & Co., the operating subsidiary of   Mead Johnson Nutrition Company (NYSE: MJN) (“Mead Johnson”), the makers of the national-brand Enfamil® LIPIL® Infant Formula.  Mead Johnson is 83 percent-owned by Bristol-Myers Squibb.

PBM’s lawsuit claimed that Mead Johnson engaged in false and misleading campaigns against PBM’s competing store-brand of infant formulas, suggesting they do not provide the same nutrition as Mead Johnson’s brands.  PBM’s store-brand infant formulas cost up to 50 percent less than Enfamil® LIPIL®.  The $13.5 million in damages awarded by the jury in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia is one of the largest damages awards ever for a false advertising case.

“This decision by a jury of the people confirms that Mead Johnson’s ads have been false in suggesting that there is a nutritional difference between our store-brand formula products and their products, when in fact the only major difference is price,” said PBM CEO Paul B. Manning.  “Despite Mead Johnson’s scare tactics, parents are assured that PBM’s formula products are as high quality and nutritious as Mead Johnson’s.”

U.S. District Court Judge James R. Spencer issued his written rulings yesterday following the November 10th jury verdict. Judge Spencer’s written rulings permanently enjoined Mead Johnson from making any false statements concerning PBM's infant formula, including the claims Mead Johnson previously made in Enfamil advertising that "It may be tempting to try a less expensive store brand, but only Enfamil LIPIL is clinically proven to improve brain and eye development," and "there are plenty of other ways to save on baby expenses without cutting back on nutrition."  The Court also ordered Mead Johnson to retrieve from the public domain all advertising or promotional materials containing these or any other false claims about PBM's store brand infant formula.

The details of the decision and the complaint are posted online in full at:

·      http://www.pbmproducts.com/docs/Order_Laches.pdf

·      http://www.pbmproducts.com/docs/PBM_Complaint_MJ_III_LIPIL.pdf

The nutritional supplements under examination in the case are two fats, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid), which Mead Johnson calls “LIPIL®” solely for marketing purposes and touts as promoting infant brain and eye development. PBM’s claim focused on Mead Johnson’s direct mailing to more than 1.6 million parents of an alarming blurry picture of a child’s cartoon duck next to a clear picture of the same image which suggested that anything other than the Enfamil LIPIL® blend of ingredients is inferior and will result in poor eye and brain development.  Other parts of the false advertising campaign consist of statements that only Enfamil LIPIL has been proven to confer visual and mental benefits on infants, and store-brand formulas are a “cut-back in nutrition” compared to Enfamil.

PBM successfully argued that these advertisements were false and misleading especially since PBM store- brand infant formulas have the same nutrients at the same levels as Enfamil.  PBM infant formulas are formulated to contain DHA and ARA, and are sourced from the same supplier in amounts which equal or exceed the DHA and ARA in Mead Johnson’s Enfamil LIPIL®.

This decision marks the third time PBM Products has sued Mead Johnson for false advertising claims. On the prior occasions Mead Johnson admitted that it made false claims about PBM’s products.  It is also the first false advertising case to focus on the issue of DHA and ARA nutritional ingredients in formula, which were introduced into the market in 2003 and have become a staple in recent years by many brands as key components for infant development.

“This jury verdict should send a significant and clear message to Mead Johnson about the way it conducts marketing and advertising for its brands,” said Manning.  “This lawsuit also demonstrates our complete commitment to defending our products and the valuable brands of our retail partners.”

“As a parent and supporter of children’s medical research, I take a personal responsibility in assuring our customers that the products we produce are healthy and nutritionally equivalent to brand names like Enfamil® LIPIL®.  It is important, especially now, for parents to know that there are lower priced yet highly nutritious store-brand formulas that will provide the same benefit to their children as any national brand name formula product,” Manning added.

The U.S. infant formula market is estimated at $3.4 billion and the global market is estimated at $7.9 billion.

All of PBM’s formulas, and for that matter all of U.S. infant formulas, are subject to the exacting standards of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pursuant to the Infant Formula Act of 1980.  This legislation vested FDA with the authority to ensure that all infant formula products sold in the United States provide the necessary levels of identified nutrients required for the growth of healthy babies. For more information, visit this FDA link.

PBM Products was represented by the law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP.  Partners from the firm’s advertising practice, Harold P. Weinberger and Jonathan M. Wagner in New York, led the team.

I'm Back from Hibernation...

Since my sister and her family came over for a holiday vacation with us, I was kind so excited about it that I don't want to blog or do other things. Aside from that, I get used to it. Now, I've been missing to blog for almost three weeks now and I feel so bad about it. Then, New Years came, that's where I started getting lazy now to blog and just wanted to watch movies and sit. Although, I do some household chores but I never felt on writing and to update my blogs. I feel like I was hibernating or something especially now that it is so cold here in Michigan.

Anyway, I will be pretty busy soon when school starts on the 14th of January, I’ll be missing to blog again. I wish I could just do blogging but I can’t and I have to go to school to pursue my career. I can’t be a blogger for my whole life.

Well, now I am so glad I’m back on blogging for now and I wish I could do anything I have to do before the next week starts soon.
